Description
Lionel No. 2340 Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) GG1 electric locomotive, O gauge. This postwar era model features a die-cast metal body finished in Brunswick Green with gold-colored lettering and a yellow stripe. The locomotive is equipped with dual functional metal pantographs and die-cast six-wheel power trucks. Both sides of the body are marked with the number 2340 at each end and the road name PENNSYLVANIA centered between the access doors. A small red PRR keystone emblem is located above the road name. The lot includes a period-correct corrugated cardboard storage box. One end of the box is stamped 2340-25 and the opposite end is stamped 2340-27. The box features a manufacturer certificate stamp from the St. Joe Paper Co. Container Division of South Hackensack, New Jersey, noting a 200-pound bursting test and a 100 percent St. Joe Kraft logo. Faint pencil handwriting is present on one side of the box.
