Description
A collection of vintage space-themed toy train cars, identified as the Cape Canaveral Express set manufactured by Louis Marx and Co. The group includes a diesel-style switcher locomotive with a red, white, and blue plastic shell bearing the markings Cape Canaveral Express 1798. It is accompanied by a matching red plastic tender decorated with atomic orbital graphics. The set features a maroon Erie flatcar carrying a blue generator unit and a silver-finished searchlight accessory. A white tanker car is marked Chemical Rocket Fuel, Danger, and X-246. Also included is a blue gondola car labeled U.S. A.X. 17 99 and Missiles, containing four removable red plastic rocket accessories. The set is completed by a red caboose marked Rocket Computing Center X-467 featuring a nuclear/atomic symbol and a chipped roof. All cars are constructed with molded plastic bodies, metal axles, and integrated couplers.
