Description
This collection of Lionel O-gauge model train components dates from the pre-war era, approximately the late 1930s to early 1940s. The group includes a No. 224E steam locomotive and a matching 2666W tender. The locomotive is constructed from die-cast metal with a 2-6-2 wheel arrangement and is marked 224E on the cab. The tender is also made of plastic and is marked Lionel Lines. The collection features four 600-series freight cars made from lithographed tinplate with die-cast or stamped steel frames and trucks. These include a No. 653 light green hopper car, a No. 654 silver tank car with Sunoco branding, a No. 655 yellow boxcar with a maroon roof, and a No. 656 gray stock car with a red roof and slats each is missing one brakewheel. Each car displays its respective model number and Lionel Lines identification. Also included are two metal accessories: a cream-colored No. 58 gooseneck street lamp and a No. 68 Railroad crossing sign with crossbuck markings for Railroad Crossing and Look Out for Locomotive. The locomotive’s model number includes an E suffix, denoting a three-position E-unit for remote-control reversing.
