Description
This collection features model train items produced by Rivarossi of Como, Italy. The grouping includes one electric locomotive and several freight cars, all accompanied by their corresponding original cardboard packaging and period documentation.
The locomotive is an Italian FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) E.626 series electric locomotive finished in a brown livery with dual roof-mounted pantographs. The rolling stock consists of a red-brown closed boxcar marked FS Italia F 1946, a red and black liquid tanker car, a greenish-grey open gondola, and a flatcar carrying simulated natural wood logs marked FS Italia Po 1948.
The models are constructed from a combination of die-cast metal and early plastics. The boxes bear prominent Rivarossi branding and Made in Italy marks. Specific box labeling includes Le 626/R for the locomotive, which also carries a vintage Hornby Dublo dealer sticker; C MP 41 for the tanker; C F/R for the boxcar; C Po L for the log flatcar; and G L1m S.T./48 for the gondola. Supporting documentation includes an original Certificato di collaudo (test certificate) for model Le 626/R with handwritten serial number 37, and a Supermodelli Serie Rossa (Red Line Super-models) instruction sheet specifying the technical details of the line.
