Description
A vintage HO scale model train set manufactured by Rivarossi of Como, Italy. The set consists of an Italian FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) style 4-4-2 steam locomotive with road number 221 001 and a matching black coal tender. Also included are three passenger and baggage coaches finished in a two-tone brown and tan livery. The locomotive features a die-cast metal chassis with a plastic boiler, and the passenger cars are constructed from plastic. Each component is housed in its original red and white patterned cardboard box. Box ends are marked with model designations L 221/R, V DUZ 34, and V AZ 37. Several boxes feature handwritten notations including the date 25 JUNE 58 and a price in Italian Lire of £ 2400-. Documentation includes a Certificato di collaudo (test certificate) for model L 221/R, numbered 167, and an original guarantee card from Rivarossi S.p.A., Via Conciliazione 74, Como, Italy.
