Spring Vintage and Modern Train Auction, ALL ABOARD!
Lot 228:
Description
This collection comprises three vintage model railway scenery dioramas, likely in HO scale (1:87), constructed in a style characteristic of mid-20th-century German manufacturers. The items are built using mixed media including wood, plastic, card, and metal, with each scene mounted on a rigid base featuring a textured cork or sand finish.
The first diorama 9611/513 depicts an industrial coal yard featuring a central blue crane with a bucket, a brick-walled storage area containing simulated coal, a small brown building with blue-trimmed windows, a stationary brown boxcar, and a black water crane with a red and white marker light.
The second diorama represents an elevated fuel depot. It features two silver horizontal storage tanks mounted on a dark gray trestle-style frame. Adjacent is a small white utility building with a gray corrugated roof and blue-trimmed windows. A small sign on the trestle frame bears the German text Rauchen verboten.
The third diorama is a fuel storage and pump station. This scene includes three silver horizontal tanks numbered 1, 2, and 3 resting on a brick-textured foundation. The tanks are connected by a red manifold pipe system to a small red brick building with a dark gabled roof and a green door. A sign above the door bears the German text Rauchen verboten. Two small blue oil drums are positioned beside the building.
