Description

A set of three vintage 1-gauge model railway flatcars manufactured by Märklin in Germany. The collection is constructed from lithographed and painted tinplate and features the standard Märklin hook and loop coupling system on black-finished undercarriages. One 1938/1 car features a maroon-painted deck and is loaded with three natural wood logs secured by black metal vertical stakes and two metal chains. A second car 1766/1 features a cream-colored deck with side-mounted metal steps; this car bears an embossed manufacturer mark on the top surface consisting of the word GERMANY above the Märklin circular logo and the name MÄRKLIN below. The third car 1999/1 is finished with a dark green deck and a black metal retaining rail, carrying five lithographed tin oil barrels. Each barrel displays a different period brand logo: BP OLEX (yellow and blue shield), BXV (blue diamond), DEUTSCHES LEUNA BENZIN (red and white circle), STANDARD (red circle and line), and GARGOYLE (red winged creature).
