Description
A Lionel Postwar O-27 gauge model train set, The set is presented in its original cardboard box, which is branded ‘LIONEL O-27 No. 1644 THE “GENERAL”‘. The box features a stylized steam locomotive silhouette. Inside, housed within orange cardboard inserts, the set includes a black steam locomotive (No. 1862) with a green 1862T tender, a green 3370 ‘Wells Fargo Fast Express’ car, and two yellow ‘Western & Atlantic’ passenger coaches (No. 1865), one of which is marked 1866 ‘U.S. MAIL’. All components are constructed of plastic and metal. Also included are various track sections, a black control unit, and a collection of paper ephemera: an ‘Instructions for Operating’ manual, ‘The Great Locomotive Chase’ booklet, a ‘Lionel Service Stations 1960-1961’ sheet, two ‘LIONEL 1961’ catalogs (‘New Science Sets O-27 HO Super ‘O’ Train Lines’ and ‘Train Lines’), and a ‘Navy’ themed brochure.
