Description
A Lionel 1553W Milwaukee Road Freight Set, circa 1956, featuring the 2338 GP-7 Diesel Locomotive. The set includes a black and orange diesel locomotive (No. 2338). Accompanying rolling stock consists of a red caboose (S.P. No. 6257), a black gondola car (NYC No. 6462), a black boxcar (NEW HAVEN No. 6464-425), a silver covered hopper car (ALCOA ALUMINUM No. 6346), and a red flat car (LIONEL No. 6430) with two removable gray box trailers marked “LIONEL”. The lot also includes original cardboard packaging for individual cars and a larger “LIONEL TRAINS 1553W” set box. Accompanying paper ephemera includes a “LIONEL TRAINS WITH MAGNE TRACTION” catalog, a “LIONEL SERVICE STATIONS 1955-1956” list, operating instructions for the GP-7 locomotive, and period advertisements.
