Description
An assortment of vintage softcover catalogs and promotional materials issued by The Lionel Corporation of New York. The grouping spans the post-war period from 1948 to 1966 and includes a variety of consumer catalogs, advance catalogs, and specialized accessory guides. Featured items include the 1950 Golden Anniversary catalog, Toys for 1965, and several editions from the early 1960s highlighting New Science Sets and Magne-Traction technology. The collection also contains two copies of the Magic of Lionel Magne-Traction promotional booklet and a 1958 Art Prints of 19th Century Locomotives portfolio. Many pieces exhibit original dealer stamps from the Madison Cycle Co. in Irvington, New Jersey. The materials illustrate a wide range of Lionel products including ‘027’ gauge, Super ‘O’, and HO scale trains, as well as slot cars, science labs, and phonographs. The covers feature characteristic mid-century graphic design and illustrations of families and railroad equipment. Most items are stored in individual clear plastic archival-style sleeves, some of which are hole-punched for binder storage.
