Description
This collection consists of eight model train station platforms manufactured by The Lionel Corporation, identified as No. 156 Illuminated Platforms. The units are constructed from painted metal, featuring rectangular green bases, gray vertical support pillars, and bright red corrugated roofs. Each platform includes black decorative fencing adorned with lithographed tin advertising panels for various brands including Baby Ruth, Rival Dog Food, Sunoco Dynafuel, Remington Portable Typewriters, Lionel Chem-Lab, and Lionel Construction Kits. The platforms are designed for illumination with light bulb sockets located on the underside of the roof sections. The collection is accompanied by three original cardboard boxes. Two are standard Lionel orange and blue boxes marked No. 156 ILLUMINATED PLATFORM and LIONEL, one of which includes a vintage price notation of 4.50. The third is a plain brown cardboard box marked 156-17 and MADE IN U. S. OF AMERICA, bearing a circular stamp from the PITTSBURGH CORRUGATED PAPER CO. Also included are six small manila envelopes typically used for containing wiring and accessories. Printed marks on the boxes include LIONEL ELECTRIC TRAINS and No. 156 STATION PLATFORM manufactured by THE LIONEL CORPORATION.
