Description

A Lionel Postwar O-gauge operating water tower, cataloged as model No. 38, manufactured by The Lionel Corporation. The accessory features a translucent amber plastic tank with horizontal ribbing and raised lettering on the side that reads LIONEL LINES. The tank is topped with a red plastic conical roof detailed with two black lamps and a silver-toned finial. The tank rests upon a brown plastic lattice support structure mounted to an off-white plastic base. A black plastic spout with a silver-colored tip is attached to the side. This set is accompanied by its original cardboard storage box, which is stamped MADE IN U.S. OF AMERICA and features a circular maker mark for GAIR BOGOTA CORR. & FIBRE BOX CORP. BOGOTA, N. J. with the model-specific number 38-85. Also included are a remote control switch with a black base and red button, a clear plastic funnel for filling, an original instruction sheet, and a WATER TANK COLOR TABLETS NO. 38-16 notification slip. This operating unit is designed to utilize actual water, lowering the spout and discharging the contents when activated via the remote controller.
