Description
A Hornby Speed Boat No. 1, model Racer I, manufactured by Meccano Ltd. at the Binns Road factory in Liverpool, England. This clockwork toy is constructed from painted and lithographed tinplate. The vessel features a light blue hull and a cream-colored deck separated by a dark blue pinstripe. The deck includes a blue-painted engine hatch cover with a raised vent and a small windshield. The starboard bow is marked with the name RACER I in gold-toned block letters with dark outlining. A circular red and gold Hornby decal is applied to the rear deck. The boat is equipped with an integrated clockwork motor, a three-blade propeller, and a movable rudder. The lot includes the original two-piece cardboard box featuring a deep pink crackle finish and a colorful pictorial paper label on the lid marked HORNBY SPEED BOAT and No. 1. Also included is a separate metal winding key and an original Meccano Ltd. Tested and Guaranteed paper slip from the Binns Road factory. It works
