Lot 326:
Description
This collection of naval toys was produced by the Keystone Manufacturing Co. of Boston, Massachusetts, likely dating to the 1940s. The set is primarily constructed from painted wood with metal and composite hardware. The primary component is a large U.S. Coast Defense Fort featuring a central bunker with rotating gun turrets, airplane hangars, an anti-aircraft gun, and a flying field with a spring-launching mechanism for aircraft. The fleet includes several distinct vessels: a U.S. Battleship B-15 with two main red gun turrets; a U.S. Battleship B-22 with two gray gun turrets and an integrated bow catapult carrying a small metal airplane; a U.S. Submarine U-18 with a red hull, conning tower, and signal flags; a U.S. Carrier with a red and white funnel and a spring-loaded flight deck mechanism; a Radar boat with a blue and white striped deck; and a crane ship with a red lift arm. Five lithographed cardboard target ships on stands are also included. Multiple pieces are marked with the Keystone manufacturer name on the bow or side, along with specific designations such as U.S. Battleship, U.S. Submarine, and U.S. Carrier. – Wear to wood parts, see photos
