Description
This is a Märklin model railway electrical power supply and control set. The set is housed in its period-correct wooden storage box with a sliding lid. The collection consists of a cylindrical motor generator unit and two power controllers featuring rotating rheostat dials. The electrical components are encased in black housings made of molded plastic or Bakelite and metal. Included is a group of metal track clips and connectors. The wiring is fabric-wrapped and features various plug attachments. The front of the box displays two primary labels. A pink upper label identifies the unit as an Umformer, Motor Generator, or Convertisseur designed for Gleichstrom (direct current) converting 110 volts to 20 volts. An orange and white lower label bears the Märklin manufacturer name and the model number 13478 BG ST. Handwritten green ink notations on the wood include 62/18, Umformer, and No. 52.
