Description
This lot consists of a Lionel Corporation No. 2340 Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) GG1 electric locomotive, manufactured during the postwar era circa 1955 to 1956. The O-gauge model features a die-cast metal shell and frame with metal trucks and couplers. It is finished in the classic PRR Tuscan Red livery with gold five-stripe pinstriping. The sides are marked with the road name PENNSYLVANIA and the model number 2340 at each end of the cab. Red keystone decals with gold borders are present on the sides and both nose ends. The locomotive is equipped with dual functional metal pantographs mounted on white ceramic-style insulators. The item is accompanied by its original corrugated cardboard factory box. The box side is stamped with several markings including MADE IN U. S. OF AMERICA, 100% ST. JOE KRAFT, and a circular maker seal for ST. JOE PAPER CO. – CONTAINER DIV., SO. HACKENSACK, N. J. The box also bears a large factory stamp for model number 2340-10. Restored by Elliot Weltz.
