Description
This vintage Hornby Speedboat, model Swift, was manufactured by Meccano Ltd in Liverpool, England. The toy is constructed of lithographed and painted tinplate. It features a clockwork wind-up mechanism (working) operated by a central winding post and includes a large, removable metal winding key. The exterior design consists of a red hull with a cream-colored deck and a blue pinstripe along the gunwale. The name Swift is printed in gold-toned serif lettering on both sides of the bow. The deck features a hinged red engine cover, a blue-painted ventilator, and a small blue cleat at the bow. At the stern, the boat is equipped with a three-blade metal propeller and a red-painted metal rudder. A scroll-shaped decal on the stern deck identifies the item as a Hornby Speedboat Product of Meccano Ltd Liverpool.
