Description
This acrylic on canvas painting by Frank Manalili, signed and dated 1984, features a stylized depiction of a streamlined steam locomotive. The artwork serves as a modern interpretation of vintage promotional imagery from 1947 train catalog for the German model train manufacturer Märklin. The salmon-orange locomotive bears the identification number 07 013 and is shown pulling into a station at platform 12, emitting plumes of white steam. The scene is rendered in a graphic, commercial illustration style with dramatic lighting and includes observers on the platform. The work is signed Frank Manalili 84 in the lower right corner. It is housed in a simple black wooden frame with a white inner border and is mounted on standard wooden stretchers. Canvas is 24″ x 18″.
