Description
An original illustration rendered in acrylic or oil on stretched canvas by artist Frank Manali, dated 1982. The artwork depicts an atmospheric scene featuring several model locomotives associated with the Märklin brand, including a detailed steam engine in the foreground and a green electric Crocodile-style locomotive in the middle ground. The composition is characterized by voluminous billowing white and brown smoke and steam effects set against a background suggested to be a station or industrial environment. The stylized Märklin brand logo is painted in blue script in the lower right corner. The work is signed and dated FRANK MANALI 82 directly below the logo. The painting is housed in a black-painted wooden frame with a gilded inner liner. The reverse of the canvas is unstamped and shows minor age-related foxing on a standard wooden stretcher. Canvas is 24″ x 18″.
