Description
This Hornby-Dublo EDP2 Duchess of Atholl Passenger Train set is a three-rail electric model manufactured by Meccano Limited at the Binns Road factory in Liverpool, England. The set features a 4-6-2 steam locomotive with die-cast metal construction finished in LMS maroon livery. The locomotive carries the nameplate Duchess of Atholl and cab side number 6231. Included is a matching maroon tender with L M S lettering in gold-toned serif font. The rolling stock consists of two LMS maroon passenger coaches with lithographed tinplate bodies, one of which is marked with the number 4183. The power system is a three-rail electric mechanism designed to draw power from the center rail. Accessories include several sections of straight and curved three-rail track with metal ballast-effect bases and a black electrical controller. The controller features a speed and direction lever and a red safety reset button with the text When The Red Button Rises and Meccano Limited – England. Original ephemera includes an instruction booklet titled Hornby-Dublo Electric Trains The Perfect Table Railway and a blue Tested and Guaranteed slip numbered 551. The set is housed in its original blue presentation box with a central illustrated label and a side label printed with EDP2 Hornby Dublo Passenger Train Duchess of Atholl. Original box minor wear.
